About Premier Insurance Group
Premier was founded in Roseburg, Oregon in 1996. They are an insurance agency, and as such does not underwrite any of the policies they sell. They work with some of the biggest names in the insurance industry to provide customers with a selection of policy options. These include Chubb, The Hartford, Foremost, Nationwide, Progressive, and Zurich.
As an agency, Premier specializes in farm insurance, which is not surprising given their location in farm and ranch land. Nationwide Agricultural certifies their farm insurance agents. They also recently moved into insurance for Oregon’s growing winery industry. While this is their area of expertise, the agency also provides a full range of personal lines products including auto insurance, home insurance, and life insurance, as well as commercial products for a variety of businesses.
Premier’s offices remain in the city of Roseburg and serve several cities and rural surrounding areas. They are licensed in Oregon, California, and Arizona.
Premier has a long list of available products, underwritten by the various companies they represent as agents. Because each company offers different coverage levels, discounts, and options, this review will give a basic overview rather than details on available policies.
Premier offers auto insurance through some of the best-known insurance companies in that market, such as Nationwide and Progressive. They also offer non-standard and specialty coverage via companies like Foremost and Hagerty, the latter providing collector and classic car insurance.
Some of the coverage options, varying by company, include accident forgiveness, diminishing deductible, and even minor violation forgiveness. The details of each policy will differ depending on the insurance company.
Premier can help with a full range of home insurance, including standard homeowner’s, landlord insurance, condo, renters and mobile home. Not all insurance companies offer all of these policies, but the range of providers allows Premier to have a solution for most home insurance needs.
Premier also has the option to bundle auto and home together in order to receive a discount. This option is only available with certain insurance companies, however.
Premier offers both individual and group life insurance policies. Most policy types are available, including term life insurance, whole life insurance, and universal life insurance. They also have second-to-die policy options.
This is Premier’s chosen area of specialty, and they cover all types of farms for a long list of risks. They offer policies from a variety of companies but feature Nationwide as their main insurer of choice for farms.
Coverage includes homes and structures on the farm, farm liability, farm vehicle coverage, loss of business income, and farm property and livestock coverage. Because farm insurance requirements vary greatly depending on the type of crop, livestock, or other product, policies are tailored to meet the specific needs of the type of farm in question.
Beyond farms, Premier represents several commercial insurance companies as well, which allows them to provide a business package and a la carte coverage for a wide range of companies.
Businessowners policies (BOP) are available, as well as commercial liability, commercial auto, and a range of specialty liability policies such as professional liability and business practices liability.
RV and Specialty Insurance
Premier represents companies that can insure a wide range of specialty vehicles, including motorhomes, travel trailers, ATVs, boats, and more.
The policies for these will vary greatly by the carrier, but in some cases bundling may be available with auto insurance.
In addition to these main categories, Premier also offers products such as identity theft coverage, special events insurance, disability policies, and more.
Both commercial and personal umbrella policies are also available from a variety of providers.
Because Premier is an agency that represents a variety of insurance companies, rates will vary greatly. The site does offer an online quote request form, but this will be sent to the company so that an agent can contact you. We were unable to locate a direct method of obtaining quotes online.
While Premier does not handle any claims directly, they do offer a 24-hour customer service line to assist clients with questions or concerns, including claims. This line can help point the policyholder in the right direction and assist with getting a claim filed.
Claims are handled directly by the insurance company through which the policy was issued. Each company has its own adjusters and claims process.
Ratings and Consumer Reviews
Surprisingly, we were unable to locate a Better Business Bureau (BBB) record for this company. They do have a Yelp page, however, there are currently no reviews located there. This is unusual for a company that has been in business this long.
Likewise, we did not have any luck with Google reviews for this company. The company’s website presents a number of quotes from customers, but of course, all of these are positive and cannot be used as a source of objective review.
Generally, no reviews is usually good news for an insurance company or agency as it means no complaints, but it also provides very little information for those seeking to make an informed decision.
The Bottom Line
Without much information on this company, it is difficult to provide a recommendation. Premier Insurance Group does have two decades of service to what is a somewhat small community; longevity within a community is typically a positive sign. If you’re looking for an agent to help you with your insurance needs, they are worth a look, however, we are unable to offer a solid opinion without more information. Bear in mind that with agencies it is also recommended to read reviews of the companies they represent before you buy a policy as this is who you’re likely to be dealing with should you have a claim.
