About Peak Property & Casualty
Peak was founded in Stevens Point, WI in 1985, but has operated as a subsidiary of Sentry Insurance Group since 1990. Information on this company is incredibly difficult to piece together. They have no individual website but are named as a subsidiary on the Sentry site as well as in several other locations. That includes the site of Sentry’s auto insurance brand, Dairyland Insurance, which lists Peak as an underwriting company for their products in multiple states.
We were unable to ascertain exactly what Peak does outside of underwriting for Dairyland. Reviews of the company do seem to indicate that they are the insurer of record on personal auto policies, or were at some point.
As best we are able to establish, they provide underwriting and service for policies under the Dairyland name, but much of the information is unclear at best.
Sentry Insurance is primarily a business insurance provider. Again, it is unclear whether Peak writes any of those policies, but we are unable to find any indication that they do.
Peak, like other Sentry products, use independent agents for sales.
Peak Property & Casualty Rates & Products
As we were unable to find any specific information as to what this company actually writes, independently or otherwise, we are unable to offer a product lineup and certainly cannot determine rate information.
For policies that are underwritten through Dairyland Insurance, we recommend reading our full review of that company. This will provide product information and reviews for that company and its products.
Claims appear to be handled through Sentry Insurance, although Dairyland policies would be handled directly through that company’s claims department. Without any clear information as to what precisely Peak writes directly, it is difficult to determine where a claim should be directed.
Ratings and Consumer Reviews
Peak does have its own Better Business Bureau (BBB) page, in spite of a general lack of a presence elsewhere on the web. It currently has a B+ rating, and there are 12 complaints on file in the past three years. The complaint content all seems to point to problems with auto insurance claims.
Due to the confusion regarding what exactly Peak writes, it is difficult to know where to look for solid reviews. As they operate under several names, any of the reviews of Sentry or Dairyland may apply to Peak as well.
The Bottom Line
There is simply too much confusion and lack of information surrounding this company for us to provide an opinion. Without product details, rates, or a general overview of what this company does, we can confidently say that you’re likely to find more information and product descriptions with many other companies.
