Country Financial Car Insurance and Other Products

Country Financial has a truly expansive list of products, from basic personal coverage to specialty policies.

Auto Insurance

Country’s auto insurance program provides the basics such as collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, uninsured motorist, and liability. They also offer plenty of add-ons to create a personalized policy. Among the options are:

  • Rental Car and Trip Interruption Coverage
  • Personal Effects coverage
  • Renters Insurance as an add-on to auto rather than a separate policy
  • New Car Replacement coverage called The Keeper

Discounts are numerous and vary based on the state in which the policyholder lives. Most are common, but there are some unusual ones, including a discount for engaged couples over 21.

Other Vehicles

In addition to auto insurance, Country writes policies for other types of vehicles including; motorcycles, boats, and RVs.

Home Insurance

Country Financial has policies to cover multiple different types of home and homeowner.

Homeowner’s insurance for single-family dwellings comes in three levels:

  • Basic coverage
  • Premier coverage, which adds more covered perils and options
  • Combination coverage, which provides the Premier level for the home and basic for personal property

Other types of home insurance cover the needs of each specific home:

  • Condo insurance for the required structure coverage and personal property, as well as liability
  • Mobile Home insurance
  • Rental Property insurance to protect landlords
  • Renter’s Insurance to protect the personal property of tenants

Life Insurance

Country writes the three main types of life insurance policy; they offer a range of term life insurance, whole life insurance, and universal life insurance products.

Term coverage comes in 10, 15, 20, and 30-year options. Death benefits start at $50,000, with coverage amounts of more than $1 million available. Term policies are renewable on an annual basis after the initial term ends without further medical exams, although premiums will increase each year. The policies can also be converted to permanent life at any time during the initial term.

Riders for term policies include a child term insurance rider of up to $25,000, waiver of premium, and return of premium, which returns the base premium and the cost of the rider at the end of the policy term.

Whole Life is available with several payment options to provide lifetime coverage. The standard whole life, Executive Whole Life, has consistent lifetime payments up until the age of 95. Other payment options are 10-pay, 20-pay, Paid up at 65, and Single Premium.

The company offers a wide range of riders to be added to their whole life policies. These include:

  • Child term rider
  • Spouse term rider
  • Accelerated benefits for terminal illness
  • Accidental death benefit
  • Accelerated benefits for long-term care
  • Disability waiver of premium

Universal Life is available in two formats. Universal Life Accumulator offers the choice of either an increasing or level death benefit. Universal Life Protector is designed to be an affordable choice with all the flexibility and cash accumulation value of a standard universal policy. Both allow for flexibility in the death benefit as well as the amount of the premiums.

Universal policies also have a range of riders available including; child term insurance, spouse coverage, automatic increase of death benefit, waiver of specified premium, and a guaranteed insurance option.

Health and Long-Term Care

Country Financial assists with locating and obtaining health insurance policies through outside insurers. They also offer supplemental and long-term care plans for:

  • Disability Income
  • Long-Term Care
  • Medicare Supplement

Farm and Ranch

Country’s roots are in the country, as the name implies, and they still provide insurance policies to cover farmers and ranchers. Country writes farm insurance, country estate insurance, livestock insurance, and crop insurance policies as well.

Business Insurance

Commercial insurance products from Country cover a number of different small businesses. They offer:

  • Businessowner’s package policies covering property and liability
  • Three levels of commercial package policies
  • Business auto
  • Business umbrella
  • Worker’s Compensation

Financial Products

Country also has a large branch of financial products. Among them are retirement savings such as IRAs and annuities, college savings plans, managed investment accounts, and mutual funds.

Country Financial Rates

Country Financial does offer online quotes but does not provide coverage in our usual sample rate comparison states.

As a smaller, agent-driven company, their rates are not likely to be highly competitive with national insurers, particularly direct-buy insurance companies. Like most companies of this sort, Country doesn’t present itself as a budget insurer, instead relying on service and features to sell products.

Discounts are one of the best ways companies like Country can stay competitive, but the available options differ from state to state, making it hard to compare how these discounts will affect rates.

Country Financial Claims

Country claims can be submitted either online or on the phone for most policy types. The claims submission form can be found in the customer portal area “My Country”, where a variety of other services are available as well. There is also an option to submit a claim online without logging into a “My Country” account. The wesbite also offers the Anchor General claims phone number and the regular Anchor General phone number for customer service.

Country offers a basic claims FAQ for their policies but does not offer details account of how claims are handled. The process is outlined as being similar to most other insurance companies – an adjuster is assigned, investigates, and settles the claim in accordance with the policy limits.

The website also provides a series of checklists to assist customers with filing a claim.

Country Financial Ratings and Consumer Feedback

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) rates Country an A+, although they are not accredited. There are a total of 56 complaints listed against the company in the past three years, 15 of which were closed in the past 12 months. Those numbers are not worrisome for a company of this size.

Consumer Affairs lists 30 reviews, 28 of which left star ratings. It should be noted that this particular page is for homeowners insurance. There is one 5-star rating, one 3-star rating, and the rest are 1-star ratings. Complaints include claims being denied and poor customer service. Several of the complaints refer to specific agents, which generally cannot be counted against the company as a whole. The number of complaints is relatively low overall, and a large number of negative ratings is not unusual on this particular site.

Country Financial Insurance: The Bottom Line

Country Financial has a wide range of products and may appeal to those who want the personal service of an agent with an insurance company of moderate size that has the ability to offer plenty of features and financial backing. They are also a good choice for those in search of a one-stop choice for personal insurance as well as financial products. The company’s reputation is fairly good, with the usual types of complaints that do not appear in large enough numbers to raise red flags. Overall, Country may well be worth considering for those who live in their coverage states and are more interested in service than in getting the least expensive rates.

  1. We have a substantial theft claim for over 2 years that has not been paid. Unbelievable amount of red tape and demands to finalize the claim that has ended up in a denial. They insisted that we have all the requirements in by 2 years and including any legal action, which we did. They did all this to avoid paying on the claim as the denial came after the 2 years expired. Three witnesses saw the theft in progress, the police report shows testing for fingerprints and DNA and one reason they gave is that I could not prove that the theft happened. I followed the thief out my driveway, gave them a description of the thief and his truck, his license number, where he hung out at and when I later spoke with him several months later he admitted that his truck might have been involved, but he was not in it.
Then they claim to have inspected my property and canceled by policy for too much stuff in and around my buildings, that affects my heat system, access to electrical plugs and access. I sell used parts, so need boxes for shipping, have no heating system in the buildings so what can go wrong there, have electrical outlets every 4 feet with plenty of access, and 92 feet of door openings on two sides of a 75 ft long building, so plenty of exit space. Country has relayed to them this claim as one in the past 3 years even though they never paid a dime, thus no quote as they refused our application based on our history. We paid County over $200,000.00 in premiums the past 21 years and this the only claim on record. It would have been a 4-1 advantage to us without insurance even if they had paid the claim, plus the 14 days of research required to complete the claim info for every tool, socket, screwdriver, etc. etc., date and receipt of purchase, condition, the former and current value on 97 items. Swamp!!!

    • I had car accident last December and my Country Financial Insurance is just washing their hands by saying that my payment didn’t go through before the accident and even though I had proof to show them, they just don’t wanna review my case. They’re really nasty to their clients.

  2. I have been a customer of Country Financial for over 20 years. [Redacted] owner and his secretary [Redacted] have always met my insurance needs. they have answered my questions and explained them thoroughly. They let me know the best solutions for my situation. I highly recommend Country Financial. Thank you, [Redacted] and [Redacted], for your services all these years.

  3. I had country financial for a couple of years for my vehicle. I had to work out of town for a few months and accidentally missed a payment. Called them up and explained, worked it out, and paid them the balance. A few weeks later I found out they reneged on the agreement and was without insurance. And they made sure that they told the DMV about it which cost me more money.

Not only are they deceptive and nasty, but they’re also stupid. I had my home insurance with them as well so when I got a different auto insurance I also switched my home insurance. Now that’s a lot of money they just cost themselves.

  4. Stay away from County Financial auto insurance in Georgia. Georgia laws says you must fill out a selection/rejection form for less uninsured motorist coverage; if not, then you have coverage equal to the liability. I had an accident in May 2014 that was not my fault and I had never filled out the selection/rejection form with County. They did not inform me of this Georgia requirement when they sold me the policy. I had to file a lawsuit and it’s still not settled.

  5. My first issue is when signing up my agent told me that since I didn’t have a credit history my rate would be the higher rate for a few months until they had established that I made reliable payments, at which point he would lower it for me. This never happened, and when I called to check in, I was assigned a new agent who told me that wasn’t possible.

Eventually, I found a MUCH cheaper rate through another provider and switched to them last month. I called and canceled my policy with Country. They confirmed this and told me a check with my balance would be mailed within a few days. I never received the check and in fact was billed AGAIN the following month. Messages left with my agent were not responded to. I called customer service and they had on record that I had canceled, but the local agent did not process it. They back-cancelled the policy again and my request for an e-mail confirmation was a process that took 20 minutes over the phone.

Hopefully my policy will be canceled this time, and hopefully I will receive my refund, however, my faith in this company is EXTREMELY low. Best to stay away and do business with a company that does not have such a dishonest, scammy attitude.

  6. I’ve seen enough negatives on this site and other sites about Country Financial that you have been removed from my list. If it is because of particular agents or agencies might need to dump some of these folks.

  7. Sitting back reading all these comments on Country Insurance is really disturbing. There is good and bad with everything.
I have been a Country customer for over 20 years. We have both home and vehicle insurance. The home insurance has been great. Unfortunately we have had to use it a couple of times and everything was so smooth.
But after 20 years with no accidents, my husband was involved in one in April. The adjuster they sent out was very rude and didn’t seem to do his job right. After having our car in the shop for over a month it was decided that the value of the vehicle was less than what the repairs cost. The second time was when I was in a store and a customer in that store ran a shopping cart through my drivers side mirror causing $1500.00 in damage I made a claim and had to pay my $1000.00 deductible. I am still trying to get Country to help me get my deductible back.

  8. I have been with the company for more than 17 years, I never changed because I have never had any issues with them until now. They increased my premium without telling me, I understand that by law they don’t need to tell me anything, but out of courtesy that would have been nice. I ended up canceling my policy, I wrote a letter to my agent stating that I am going to cancel my policy and I put the date I wanted it canceled. My agent [Redacted] canceled my policy almost a month before the date I wanted it canceled. So, now I have a lapse in my record due to negligence on his part.

  9. My car was damaged by another insured from country financial. The first check they sent was for a F10 truck….. We have an avenger…. How can a claims office be so neglect in not getting a quote correct. Being honest, law abiding citizens, we called country financial back instead of cashing the check to pay for the damages. Then it’s taken over 3 weeks to get another check…. The right quote but it still hasn’t arrived. I’ve never dealt with a company that’s so incompetent. Hopefully we never have a run in with country financial as long as I live.

  10. I am currently in claim process as a client of CF. Thus far all is going smooth, now is the process of me deciding if I want reimbursement for my claim with the normal replacement cost amount and the depreciation amount. Not sure which way to go as of yet. Had a lot of questions and they were answered to my satisfaction, but awaiting info to make my final decision. My agent guaranteed me that I would not be dropped due to my claim is a chargable claim, others I’ve spoken with stated they were dropped right after the payout. This will be my first claim with CF and if they drop me or jack up my premiums so high that I freak out, then I will have to take other measures myself. We’ll see.

  11. I am a trusting and generally naive person – truly expected Country Insurance to meet their obligations to e when a large tree struck my house this summer during a major storm. No such luck! Nothing but lies and deceit. Refuses to pay more than 2/3 of what 2 building contractors say it will actually cost to fix my house. Ignores evidence of deeper hidden structural damage. Appears to have engaged in a deliberate strategy to back me into a corner with winter storms just 3-4 weeks away (I live in a northern state) so that I will be desperate and just accept whatever they are willing to offer, even if it doesn’t actually repair all the damage! Do yourself a favor – avoid this company like the plague!

  12. You obviously don’t have any personal experience or customer recommendations. We have been with Country for 6 years, now, finally fed up, we are switching. They never pay claims, never return calls, and we would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE, ESPECIALLY individuals, families, or businesses.

    • Jan, I am sorry that you had a bad experience with Country, but would you be able to guarantee you won’t with any other company? To disparage hard working people of any company anywhere on the web is rude. To say that any company NEVER pays claims is not just inaccurate, but also a vicious lie. Perhaps you tried to cut your rates and are now unsatisfied that you were uncovered for a particular peril or instance. This is why companies everywhere need to be judged by the quality of the whole, not any single part. I could say I hated the experience I had at the Verizon store and will never ever shop there again because of a particular rep, but would that be fair to say that all reps will be exactly like that? I would hope that you would consider treating each individual with the care and respect that you would want to see, not just yourself, but to your family. Once again, I apologize for the bad experience, but keep an open mind, and next time, try to build a relationship with your insurance rep, instead of asking for the cheapest thing.

      • Country Financial is the worst insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. Even the person caused the car accident insured by country financial said sorry for causing this and told the police the same cause, country financial’s adjustor still could tell me the police recorded wrong!!! so they’re not responsible to pay. shocking!!! can you dare use a insurance company like this. we have to go to court to with them. The court will base on the police report, Country financial insurance is the immoral insurance.

        • Im confused, are you with Country Financial, or did you get in a wreck with someone who is insured with Country Financial? I work for Country Financial, and it’s the best company I have ever worked for. You sound like one of those companies that gets paid to write nasty things about good companies, so the bad companies can get the business. Fun fact: if you were yourself covered by Country, and got in a wreck with someone else covered by Country, the at fault party doesn’t have to pay a deductible on Collision!!!!!
