About Stonewood (All Star General)
We had a difficult time getting a clear picture of Stonewood’s transition to All Star General, but the old company website now redirects to the All Star General site with no explanation. To add to the confusion, another site is still active and using the Stonewood name under a different URL. This site links to the All Star General site via a small and easy to miss link directing to the company’s “insured website”.
Capping off the confusion, the All Star General site states that they are now a part of Bluefire Insurance Agency.
In general, the company offers more confusion that information in terms of what they actually offer. The original site lists several products, while the new one mentions only auto insurance. The company assists policyholders in both California and Arizona.
Neither Stonewood nor All Star General underwrites policies, rather they act as agencies placing customers with partner insurance companies. These companies are:
- National General
- Western General
- Nevada General
While the company specializes in non-standard auto insurance needs, they can also place people with standard insurance companies such as National General. Policy details vary between companies and are not listed on the site.
Stonewood also offers renter’s insurance through another partner company, First American.
Pet insurance is offered through Pet Plan, and dental insurance through DentalPlans.com, another broker.
Rates are not available and will vary depending on the underwriting company and the driver. We would not expect to see online quoting from this sort of company.
Rates are likely available only through agents, although there is a phone number on the All Star General website that will likely get the caller to someone who can provide a quote.
A claims phone number is listed on the All Star General website. On the Stonewood site, instructions are provided to call the appropriate claims number for your policy – again this is pretty standard for an agency that does not have its own coverage nor its own claims department.
Policyholders can click through a link based on the prefix of their policy number, which will provide information for claims and other services. Claims procedures will also vary by company.

Stonewood has 135 Google reviews, with a 1.1-star rating overall. The reviews are overwhelmingly negative, and there is quite a lot of them for a smaller company that serves a limited region.
There is a total of 73 reviews for Stonewood on Yelp. The overall star rating is one out of five, which means reviewers did not have much good to say. Complaints are similar across the board with many customer service and claims issues.
The Bottom Line
The confusion and general lack of useful information on the Stonewood website as well as the All Star General site, leave us unable to form any real opinion of their products. The number of highly negative reviews lead us in the direction of suggesting that those in need of assistance with high-risk car insurance may want to take a look elseawhere.
