What is Kemper/Reserve National Insurance?
Founded in 1956 by a former insurance agent, Reserve National was founded in Oklahoma but eventually expanded to a total of 38 states. In 1998 Reserve National was acquired by Kemper, a large group of coverage and financial services companies operating nationwide.
Reserve National uses the Kemper name and branding, although they operate as an independent company. They offer a long list of supplemental health insurance products as well as a handful of life insurance policies. Among their supplemental insurance plans is Medicare Supplement, and it is to Reserve National that Kemper sends all of their Medicare business.
The supplement plans are sold throughout the country by independent local agents. The company’s headquarters is located in Oklahoma City.

What Types of Products Are Available?
The website offers very little information on their Medicare Supplement products. There is a basic overview of what Medicare Supplement coverage is for, the site notes that they have preferred rates for non-tobacco users.
Most states use a letter-coded standardized system for Medicare Supplement, and insurers must use this system as well. Since all companies are required to carry Plan A and either Plan C or F, we can safely say the company offers the first and one or the other of the second and third. Beyond that, we cannot guess as to which of the total of eleven plans they write.
Plan A is the base plan, and Plan F is the highest-level plan available. Most companies offer both of these as well as a few other plans. If you want to buy this coverage you will have to contact the company directly.
Does the Company Offer Competitive Rates?
Online quoting is not offered by Reserve National, nor is there a rate chart such as that offered by many other companies.
To obtain a rate, there is a request form that can be filled out in order for a representative to contact you, or you can use the agent locater option to get rates from a local agent directly.
Can Claims Be Filed Online?
Given the lack of information in general on the website, it is not surprising to see that there is no information with regards to their claims process. Most Medicare Supplement plans offer direct claims handling with providers, so the lack of this information is fairly standard.
There are some claims forms on the website, but nothing specifically related to Medicare Supplement.

Are Ratings and Consumer Reviews Positive?
Reserve National has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), with a total of 170 complaints on file in the past three years. They have been accredited since 1965.
There are two negative reviews of this company on Yelp. Neither of these complaints is related to Medicare Supplement, however.
We did not find other complaints anywhere directly relating to Medicare Supplement, and very little overall in the way of information on this company.
What’s the Bottom Line on Kemper Health?
Kemper/Reserve National offers very little information on their products, and without rates to compare it is difficult to form an opinion on their Medicare Supplement offerings or service. There are no red flags in terms of their reputation, but again the general lack of information makes it hard to draw conclusions.
There may be affordable Kemper Corporation/Reserve National Medicare Supplement coverage available to you, but it’s always worthwhile to compare this insurance company to other options.
