About Amerisure

Amerisure was founded in 1912, originally to provide worker’s compensation insurance policies to the many businesses operating in their home state of Michigan. As commercial insurance evolved over time, so did Amerisure. They continue to offer worker’s compensation, but they have added a list of packages and specific policies to serve the industries on which they have chosen to focus.

Amerisure’s headquarters is still found in Farmington Hills, Michigan, but they have eleven satellite offices, called Core Service Centers, across the country.

Products are sold through their Partners for Success group of independent agents, selected by the company for their knowledge of commercial insurance products and the industries Amerisure insures.

Amerisure Products

All of the company’s products are commercial in nature, and many are quite specific to contractors, manufacturing, or healthcare.

Worker’s Compensation

Amerisure’s first product, they continue to offer policies to companies in their niche area of service. They use a Managed Care approach to handling worker’s comp that includes Nurse Case Managers and Pharmacy Benefits Managers.

Commercial Package Policies

Amerisure’s Command Coverage is a package policy that can be customized to suit the needs of any particular business. The package includes enhancements such as mechanical breakdown coverage, broad computer coverage, utility services, and a variety of inland marine coverages.

The Contractor’s Advantage program is a package policy aimed at contractors. It can be tailored to meet specific needs with a long list of available options, including commercial auto, several liability options, pollution reimbursement, and repair and rework indemnification. The package can also include Worker’s Compensation.

A similar package policy is available for Manufacturing; the Manufacturer’s Advantage program has some similar coverage and some different. Specific to this niche are options like product recall coverage and manufacturers/processors specifications coverage.

Two Pollution endorsements are offered and can be added on to any of the commercial package policies.

Other Services

Like many commercial insurance companies, Amerisure offers risk management services. These include on-site evaluations and training, safety assessments, and accountability programs.

They investigate and analyze on-site accidents to help companies work towards prevention of future incidents.

Rates

Online quoting is not offered on Amerisure’s website, which is not uncommon for commercial insurance.

Due to the complex and varied nature of this kind of product, quotes are best obtained by speaking with an agent directly. Amerisure does provide an agent locator service on the website to help connect potential customers with one of their carefully selected agents.

Claims

Claims can be reported online as well as by email, phone, or fax. Various regions have different claims phone numbers that allow the customer to connect with the nearest office and obtain local assistance with the claim.

Claim kits are available online through the website, listed by state to provide specific information.

Amerisure’s Advocate claims service is designed to connect with the people involved in the claim, generally employees, and ensure a smooth and fast resolution. As mentioned above, Worker’s Comp claims are handled with a Managed Care team that help to provide access to medical services and ensure that the employee is ready to return to work and all bills are handled appropriately.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) gives Amerisure an A+ rating, with no complaints or reviews listed on the page in the past three years.

Not surprisingly, we were unable to find much in the way or reviews or complaints anywhere for this company. Businesses often handle issues and complaints with their insurance company through channels other than online complaints, so we frequently find little to no information in terms of customer opinions of the company online.

The Bottom Line

Amerisure has a long history and a proven track record in the industries they cover. Their products are very specific to those industries and may not be available from all other commercial insurance companies. We found no red flags in terms of their reputation, but we do recommend speaking to an agent that knows the needs of your specific company before selecting this or any other commercial policy.

  1. AMERISURE insurance is the worst.

    The adjusters Tanya and Jenny are rude and unprofessional.

    They seem to take enjoyment in delaying people’s checks.

    I was told every day for over a week that my check was overnighted but they couldn’t give me a tracking number.

    Finally, after I called their supervisor, I got a call from Jenny saying “oh, I made a mistake and put it in the regular mail”.

    So they lied to me for over a week and it was another week and 1/2 before I received it.

    The adjuster Tanya said to me “well if you would just sign the settlement papers you wouldn’t have to worry about your check”.

    This, to me, is a form of coercion.

    I did sign the papers because I am so tired of those people.

    Tanya called me Tuesday to tell me she had overnighted my settlement check – it’s now Thursday evening and no check.

    They play power games dangling your check over you.

    I did call their supervisor Rachel and left a message and asked her to return my call, but I wasn’t even afforded that courtesy.

    I guess when their supervisor does that, it’s a free for all at AMERISURE.

  2. I’ve been dealing with Amerisure for years now. And I have to say it is, in fact, the absolute worst company of ANY KIND out there…..
    After having an extreme amount of problems with my adjuster, I asked to speak to a supervisor/Manager.
    So I was put on the line with a different person. Who later turned out to be just another employee and NOT a supervisor. Which was told to me by my representative [Redacted] who certainly doesn’t have the intelligence to be a Walmart greeter, but yet they continue to allow her to keep medication from people, not return calls, as well as lie about the “supervisor ” that she puts on the phone. All of this is without any supervision what so ever.
    So I URGE EVERYONE to not deal with this company for anything what so ever…. I’ve contacted my attorney to send a letter to [Redacted]’s boss, and to have her 100% removed off of my case…… Being they will 100% bold-faced lie to you about who they are connecting you too so it covers all of their daily mistakes up….!!!
    This is the saddest excuse of an insurance company I’ve ever had to deal with in my life….
    Even all of your local pharmacies and doctors will tell you that they are the most unintelligent company that they deal with on a daily basis…..

    I will certainly continue to push to have this person with the mentality of a 5-year-old to be removed off of my case…..
    I wouldn’t trust these people to insure, or look over a doghouse as they just simply aren’t able to handle simple daily tasks……
    The absolute worst in the united states no question.

  3. I would like to know where the nurse is that is supposed to get info on treatment. I am on workmen’s comp where I was crushed by a tractor, 5 broken ribs, 4 bulging discs, 1 fractured vertebrae, and 2 crushed discs but no treatment for 3 months now. This should be illegal. I have been in agony for 3 months now with a doctor that acts like a 5-year-old kid. This company is horrible and there is no nurse. There is only an adjuster that has no medical background at all ..I have a problem with liars.

  4. Amerisure insurance is handling my workman’s comp case. Took me 9 months to get my surgery. Put me off work. Took 6 months to get a check. Now its been 9 months trying to get paid for my prescriptions. The card they sent would not work. Now 5 months have gone by trying to get paid for my mileage. In the meantime, I’ve been off work for 16 months and my family does without. They wont return your calls or answer your letters. Really sad a company that is so deceitful!

    • Still waiting for my mileage check and payment for my prescription after surgery. It will be a year in April. Left many messages. They will not call you back. They say you can rate the insurance company by the way they handle cases! They are not truthful.

      • You’re better off calling an attorney. I literally just got off the phone with [Redacted], she’s the person that the “supervisor” gave me because the other agent wasn’t smart enough to use a telephone. After talking to [Redacted], I found that she also isn’t a supervisor of any kind. Just another agent… And this one told me I WASN’T ALLOWED to talk while on the phone with her. But most importantly, told me that Amerisure would rather buy out my case vs. taking care of it the way it supposed to be, as they obviously can’t handle taking care of my medications and claims….
        So, make sure you know who you’re dealing with, as it seems every single one of them just tells you lies to get you off of the phone, then goes on vacation while you wait for your meds.
        This entire company should be shut down as they don’t have the intelligence to run a cash register, more less someones claim for their surgeries and pain….

  5. SOBs claim they mailed me out a check for my vehicle 2weeks ago……I guess the tooth fairy was short on cash & stole it out my mail box because I NEVER received it?

  6. I was hit on 12/7/2016 by a Commercial Vehicle insured by Amerisure. The other driver of the commercial vehicle was ticketed for failure to yield and charged with the accident. It is 12/28/16 and my car still sits in my garage damager and they have denied liability and told me to have my insurance fix my car and they were investigating. I was told by a Mr. [Redacted] of this company that I legally had to mitigate my claim. I spent 43 years in the insurance industry so I know filing a claim with them was mitigating my claim. This company is showing bad faith in that their insured caused me damage and harm and are failing to take action. This company does not care to keep their promise.

      • Yes I agree. I filed an Insurance Department Complaint with The Office in Florida. They state that the company is hanging everything on my not giving a recorded statement. A statement is not necessary as the guilt is very clear. There insured hit me and got a ticket for failure to yield. There is nothing more to say. Plus there was a policeman that saw the entire accident. I have retained an attorney and will let them handle.

  8. I recently paid my semiannual premium 2 days late after 10 years of being on time. Amerisure cancelled my auto insurance on 10/30. The letter of cancellation arrived on 11/4. I was told they were moving out of Michigan and they no longer wanted my business. Put me in a bad position and my homeowners on my two homes will be switched soon.

  9. I was recently involved in an vehicular accident where the party that was at fault had Amerisure Insurance. I have been waiting for over a month for the payout even though 5 days into the claim Amerisure admitted their client was at fault and they were responsible for the claim. The local office has dragged their feet repeatedly. Eventually I had to move money from my own personal financial vehicle to cover the loss and buy another car. The treatment of my claim reminds me of the horror stories that I hear from people who have workers comp claims that cannot be resolved through the insurance carrier. If the resolution of my claim is any indication of the remaining part of Amerisure Insurance, I would not have anything to do with this company. Hopefully I will get the claim paid soon and never have to deal with them again.

    • I have been waiting for an adjuster to settle a claim for over six months. It is a common practice in the insurance industry to delay and hope the claimant just goes away.
