As a supplemental insurance company, Combined Insurance does not sell standard property and casualty, life or health policies. Instead, it provides policies meant to supplement existing insurance which fills the gaps in standard coverage. These include disability and accident insurance as well as supplemental life, health and Medicare.
Combined Insurance offers whole and term life products through its Family Life Protector coverage. Policies are sold with predetermined benefit amounts, which can then be supplemented with Combined’s other products.
Supplemental life insurance can cover an individual’s final expenses, including funeral costs and credit balances. It also pays for housing expenses to help loved ones with mortgage or rent payments. Coupled with Combined’s main life insurance policy, Family Life Protector, these supplemental coverages help augment a traditional insurance policy.
Combined Insurance offers several types of supplemental coverage products:
- Disability insurance, which helps to cover the living expenses and healthcare costs of a person who has been disabled by an injury of severe illness.
- Accident insurance, which is a specialized form of supplemental health insurance. This type of policy provides additional benefits to cover the cost of hospitalization and emergency room care after a serious accident. It also helps to fill in the gaps of major medical insurance, providing financial support for deductibles and other costs.
- Supplemental health insurance provides additional financial support for people suffering from critical illnesses, including cancer. Aside from covering the direct costs of healthcare, these policies help pay for related expenses like gas for traveling to doctor’s appointments or income replacement for time missed from work.
- Medicare Supplement insurance helps to pay the out-of-pocket costs not covered by standard Medicare. These expenses include co-payments, deductibles and prescription drug costs.
The online claims form can be found on the Combined Insurance website under the “Policyholder Center” tab. Different forms exist for accident, health and life insurance, so be sure to access the correct form before proceeding.
If you wish to file a claim over the phone, you can call toll-free at 1-800-255-4500. This number is available Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 6pm Central time.
Regardless of how the claim is filed, a representative will be in contact to walk you through the rest of the claims process. Depending on the specific policy, additional paperwork may be required to validate the claim before benefits can be paid.

Combined Insurance focuses on products that fill the gaps found in standard insurance polices. While some people may benefit greatly from supplemental polices, individuals should understand the nuts and bolts of any policy before purchasing.
One particular supplemental policy just about everyone should consider is disability insurance. Nearly half of all Americans find themselves injured seriously at one point or another in their lives, and it can mean the difference between an inconvenience and all-out financial disaster.
