Assurant Health provides many types of healthcare products for individuals, and does so in most parts of the United States. They offer fixed-benefit insurance, major medical and temporary insurance. They also can provide supplemental insurance products like dental coverage, accident protection and critical illness. Assurant Health also offers small business health plans. Their plans vary by state, and they offer supplemental programs like health savings accounts and health reimbursement arrangements for businesses that need or want them. The small business plans can also come with prescription benefits as an option.
Assurant Health currently has no rating with the Better Business Bureau, despite having over 40 complaints filed in the past three years. This is unusual for a business of this size to not have a rating from the BBB. Additionally, Assurant Health does not appear to be accredited with the BBB. A good sign is that only one complaint has been filed within the last 12 months.

I would like to speak with you concerning my PPO Healthcare Coverage. I presently have Assurant PPO & Dental. But am looking at my options per the open enrollment period that we are now in. I have major back & leg issues (2 Back & 3 Knee Surgeries). The main thing is the Dr. I see for pain management is not In Network so my costs are a bit crazy.
Thank you, Nick Kolosci

Hi Nick,
If you are looking to reduce costs, having either a doctor within Assurant Health or finding a new insurance company that has your current doctor in network will certainly aid with that.
PPOs are nice because of the flexibility, but dealing with doctors outside your network often means your on the hook for up to half the total cost.
If you decide to get a new health insurance company that has your current doctor in their network, start by calling the doctor’s office and get a list of the companies they accept. Even if those companies end up costing more in premium payments, it may ultimately save you money in the long run depending on how much your current care is.

Do you have a rating for Assurant Health yet?
Eric Stauffer says
Hello Bob,
At this time, no, we do not have a rating for Assurant Health.
The entire landscape of the health insurance industry has been shifting dramatically since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, so we have halted updating and researching new health insurance company reviews. There is just too much flux as all the dust settles to really get a handle on who is good and who is not.
I apologize for not being able to get you more information at this time.
Best,
Eric Stauffer

Assurant Health is the absolute worst “health insurance company.” We would be happy to join anyone on a bad faith lawsuit against this company based on the lack coverage, as well price gouging with routine doctor visits or required pay visits not covered that is passed back to the person buying their cr** policies. We received a notice from a 2010 doctors visit for our son that stated we owed money that was not covered by a doctors visit, and immunizations that are covered & required by law via a health insurance provider, along with an interest penalty. Please contact us to join in on a class action suit, Attorney inquiries are welcome. [Redacted]

So what is the best way to make decisions regarding your health care – now – under this current deadline – when you have had your PPO pulled and want to buy another PPO – not using covered calif or Obama care.

So what do you think of Assurant Health – a year later? Do you have an email address?
Eric Stauffer says
Hi Susan,
We have not officially rated Assurant Health yet, in part because of all the changes happening in the health care industry. Once the announcements were made, we have held off on updating or completing full reviews of health insurance companies until the dust settles.
